ONE Silly Goose Birthday Party

ONE Silly Goose Birthday Party: The Cutest Theme for a One-Year-Old Girl 🪿🎀

Hi friends!

Last year I helped my sister plan my niece’s one year old birthday, it was the CUTEST theme and I can’t believe it has taken me so long to write all of the details out for you guys! A “ONE Silly Goose” birthday party theme is the sweetest party idea ever and perfect if you are planning a little girls first birthday! It was cute and it was so fun to DIY and the puns and decor were the best. We stuck to colors like white, cream, light pink, sage green, baby blue, and pops of reds with the strawberries and some of the fabrics, it looked so cute all put together!

In my mind, a good way to think about it is a picnic in the park mixed with Little Bear vibes. A little gingham here, a few daisies there, add in some pops of strawberries and geese, suddenly you’re hosting the cutest party ever. I will share the party inspiration Pinterest board that we had here and a picture below! If you’re planning your own ONE Silly Goose first birthday party I am going to share everything below that we did and where we got things from decor we used, food that was served and all of the other party details to add to your own birthday party!

Happy planning!

Decor: The Fun Part 🪿🎀

This theme is so easy to decorate for because geese are naturally cute and simple, you don’t need a million things to make it look put together but all of the extra fun decor doesn’t feel like too much either. I have mentioned many times now that we thrifted a ton of things for the birthday party and I really feel like that is the way to go!

Must-Have Decor Pieces

🪿 Balloons

We had daisy balloons and some different sized white balloons by the cake smash area which added some dimension to the sign/backdrop!

🎀 “ONE” High Chair Banner

My mom actually made the banner that was on my nieces highchair but you could purchase one of the million cute options that there are over on Etsy! I will link a couple cute Etsy options here and here!

If you want to make the one like my mom did you will need:

I’m not going to write out a whole tutorial because you are really just tying things on and hot gluing the extras onto the string so that feels sort of pointless to explain! If you have any questions though please let me know in the comments below!

🌼 Daisy + Gingham Touches

This theme pairs SO well with daisies and gingham and we added it pretty much everywhere!

  • We had plain white tablecloths and then on top of the tablecloths we added in pieces of miscellaneous gingham fabric that we thrifted/collected in preparation for the party!

  • For the centerpieces we sort of did something different on each table, I will share some examples that we did below!

The Food Table: Cute Labels Make Everything Better 🍓

I actually can’t believe that we didn’t take one single picture of the food setup that was at the birthday party but we really just made it look like we were serving goose type snacks! Adding a cute label makes the table look a little more elevated and more on theme! Here are some ideas for your own one silly goose birthday party!

🧀 “Grazing Goose Cups”

  • cheese cubes

  • crackers

  • salami

  • strawberries

  • mini pickles

🧃 “Silly Goose Sips”

  • pink lemonade

  • iced water

  • juice boxes for kids

  • iced tea for adults “pond water”

🥪 “Little Goose Bites”

  • turkey + cheese sliders

  • cucumber tea sandwiches

  • chicken salad croissants

  • scones + jams + clodded cream

🍉 “Waddle Snacks”

  • pretzels

  • goldfish crackers

  • veggie cups

  • berries

Dessert Table: Where the Theme REALLY Shines 🍰🪿

The dessert table was honestly where this party theme became unreasonably cute, there were so many ideas to choose from but this is what we did!

  • For the smash cake, my sister made the CUTEST cake all by herself and it turned out cuter than I could have ever imagined. She made two vanilla round cakes with buttercream and jam in the middle and then topped the cake with more buttercream and strawberries! She also had this goose figurine that she put on top and it might have been the cutest cake ever!!

  • For everyone else we go cupcakes from Sam’s club with white frosting and then we got these daisy toppers that we put on once we were at the venue.

  • We got sugar cookies from a local cookie decorator near my parents house:

    • Mini daisies

    • Mini Strawberries

    • Balloons with ONE Silly Goose written on it

    • Goose Cookies

Party Favors

I feel like usually at a birthday party there aren’t this many party favors but there were so many cute options we did many things that guests could take home with them!

Adopt A Goose Station

For one of the party favors we wanted to have an “adopt a goose” station where each kiddo could fill out an adoption certificate like we did when we were growing up at Build a Bear and then pick out the goose from the bin that they wanted to take home with them and it was a big hit!

We made party hats for all of the geese, and by we I mean my mom made all of the party hats and they turned out so cute.

I got the adoption certificates from Etsy and then just printed them at Walgreens!

Activities + Entertainment Ideas 🪿

Since it’s a first birthday, I don’t think that you really need to have a full schedule, but a few little activities are perfect for people to do while there is downtime!

It’s not necessary to have any of these things here but it does give the kiddos that are at the birthday party something to do!

The Perfect Party Timeline ⏰

This is the timeline that we used for my niece’s party and it worked really well for us so you can use this timeline if you want the party to be easy and low stress!

  • Guests arrive + mingle

    • Announce there are snacks available and let people graze

    • Activities can happen now too (this is when we did the coloring page and let kiddos adopt a goose)!

  • Photos with family and friends + games if playing any

  • Cake + smash cake moment/pictures

  • Open gifts, only if you want, this is totally optional!

  • Goodbyes + party favors

In my opinion a party for a one year old doesn’t really need to be longer than two hours long. This makes sure things keep moving and that your kiddo doesn’t get overwhelmed with so many people and activities!

I really think that a “ONE Silly Goose” birthday party is one of those themes that feels playful, sweet, and timeless all at once, my sister is a genius for picking the cutest theme ever! It was really easy to personalize it to my niece, it looked adorable in photos, and it celebrated my niece’s first birthday in the cutest way possible!🪿💕 If you need some last minute party items you can check out my One Silly Goose Birthday list over on Amazon!
